It was another relaxing and uneventful day for 20 year old Emma.As a matter of fact,every day for her was relaxing and uneventful.She wasn’t employed or in school.Which caused many arguments between her and her girlfriend,Kat.As Emma sat on the couch playing video games,she noticed a foul odor.Emma got up to investigate the smell while holding her nose.When she entered the kitchen,she discovered the source of the pungent stench was from her trash that had been overflowing for the past few days.Naturally,Kat didn’t know this.As every time she would remind Emma to take out the trash she was met with her typical response of,”No,I’ll do it later.”Later came and went and Emma was now smelling the cause of her procrastination.She had no choice but to throw away the overwhelming amount of trash.Emma braced herself by squatting down and lifting the heavy bag out of the small can.As she did so,the stink hit her directly in the face.”Blech!I wish I would’ve taken this out a long time ago,”she said.Emma then tied the drawstring to the bag together and pinched her nose shut while walking out of her home.She was now standing in front of the trash can at the curbside.Emma opened the trash can and braced herself.”I can do this,”she thought to herself.Emma bent down and grabbed the bottom of the bag.And with all of her upper-body strength,she slowly lifted the trash bag above her shoulders.But it started to feel heavier and heavier.Her grip began to loosen and so did her balance.Suddenly,Emma dropped the bag and plummeted down into the can.As soon as she fell inside,the lid closed shut.”Ah shit!”Emma was now cushioned atop older and smellier bags of trash.Eventually,Kat’s car arrived in the drive way.She got out of her car and went inside the house.”Hey,Emma it’s garbage night and I know you’re not gonna listen but-“She sniffed the air and noticed a lack of the garbage’s familiar stink.”Did you finally take out the trash babe?It smells nice in here!”Meanwhile,Emma was struggling to escape from her smelly confine.”Ugh it stinks in here!I can’t stand it”she cried out.”I don’t even know what to do.My phone’s inside so I can’t text Kat and let her know.”Kat was now in her home searching for her girlfriend.”Babe,where are you?”Kat called out.She looked down and noticed Emma’s phone was still on the couch.Kat then walked outside and as she surveyed the area,she noticed a stray bag of trash.”Oh so you didn’t really take the trash out?Em,why do I always have to do everything around here?”She then lifted up the bag and opened the can.As the can was opened,Emma looked up at the light shining through.Her eyes grew wide as she felt she was finally able to escape.But instead of being greeted by her girlfriend,she was met with that familiar stinky bag of trash.The lid closed shut and she was now as hopeless as ever.”Ewww!”Emma exclaimed.”I’m gonna be stuck in here forever!”Emma desperately tried to move around and hopefully knock the can over.But,her struggling was prevented by the thick barrier of trash bags surrounding her.”This really stinks…”
The sun brought about a new day.Emma woke up feeling groggy and restless.She started to think about all the things she could be doing had she not fallen in yesterday.”Yesterday!”She thought,”If yesterday was Monday then that means today…is garbage day!”Emma began to panic and do everything she could to break free.She jerked and jostled the can when suddenly noticed the can wasn’t touching the ground.Emma got excited realizing she was going to be rescued.However,the lid began to open,and an endless pool of trash bags awaited her.A mixture of rotten food and other stenches filled the air.”No…this can’t be happening!”Emma screamed as the can was thrust into the garbage truck.This is when she realized there was only one place to go from here.And it wasn’t back at her girlfriend’s house.The truck drove for what felt like hours.It could be assumed that Emma was used to the smell by now but she spent the entire ride pinching her nose and complaining.Suddenly,the truck came to a halt.Emma looked around in confusion.The door to the back of the truck opened and Emma fell out of the truck along with an avalanche of trash bags.Emma was now completely submerged in trash.Her shoulders down was surrounded by it.As she looked on,Emma saw endless piles and mountains of trash.She felt completely hopeless and looked down.”I should’ve taken the trash out sooner”she regretted.Out of curiosity,she sniffed herself to see how she smelled.”Pee-yew”she yelled out while clamping her nose tightly shut.But Emma soon realized that she would have to get used to the smell.
